In the summer of 1946 the Pacific island of Bikini was the site for the testing of two atomic bombs... one in the air and the other underwater. A fleet of warships were anchored in the lagoon to serve as targets, and the damage to the ships was shown in full detail as automatic cameras filmed the explosions.
