1939-1945 In Color
(Color Photo Book)
Fritjof Schaulen. Die Deutsche Militarelite
1939-1945: Zeitgeschichte
In Farbe
Fritjof Schaulen.
This superlative "coffee table album" portrays, in previously unpublished, striking color photographs of outstanding sharpness and brilliance, the military elite of the Third Reich. Not just the highest ranking officers from the armed services and SS are pictured. The small group of awardees of the highest German military decoration are also included. Of this book’s 110 photographs, all are either full-page or gate-fold (two full pages) images, and some were taken by German Air Force staff photographer Walter Frentz, best known as the cameraman for Leni Riefenstahl's groundbreaking film Triumph of the Will. The negatives of his experiments with color photography remained buried for nearly fifty years after the war. Hardbound, 160 pages, 110 color photos, 8.5" x 12" size, German text with English photo caption summary enclosure.
