Military Pipelines: US Army engineers string oil pipelines between docked ships and inland reservoirs deep inside Italy. 4. A Few Quick Facts: An animated sequence illustrating the magnitude of the Air Transport Command, contributions to the war effort by Allied Chinese soldiers, and the expansion of US shipbuilding. 5. Hawaiian Jungle Training: General Marshall inspects simulated jungle training grounds. 6. Attack on the Franklin: The aircraft carrier USS Franklin takes two direct hits from Japanese dive bombers, resulting in terrible fires and 722 persons dead or missing. 7. Lafayette Escadrille (eight-minute featurette): Generals Spaatz and Doolittle present Curtiss P-40 Warhawks to the exiled French Lafayette Escadrille air force. 8. Liberation of Paris (August 18th): The French underground rises up against the German occupation forces.
