Communism By Tank:
Budapest October 1956
(Cold War/Communism)

This program covers the path of resistance to communism in countries east of the Iron Curtain. Since the Red Army swept over Eastern Europe in 1945, its people have often revolted against Soviet control. The documentary footage includes the East Berlin riots of 1953, the Hungarian revolution in 1956, Dubcek's Prague Spring in Czechoslovakia in 1968, and the founding of Solidarity in Poland in 1980. In each case these events were suppressed by Soviet government with a brutal show of force.

France, 1986, B&W/color, 55 minutes, English commentary.
